As a birth parent, your greatest responsibility is to take care of your baby (if you are pregnant) by providing him/her with optimal nutrition and a healthy intrauterine environment.

As a birth parent your primary concern should be what is the best future you can offer your child. Consider not just the immediate, but the long-term circumstances and family environment that is available to your baby.

As a birth parent your obvious obligation is to make decisions that will give your baby a stable, secure, safe, and loving future.

Adoption placement may be the best decision for you to prayerfully and thoughtfully consider.

If you choose to place your child with a Christian couple, and you are mentally and emotionally committed to adoption placement, you have these responsibilities.

*** Decide what kind of Christian family you believe can offer the best life for your baby.

*** Pray for God's guidance and direction--He will gladly assist you.

*** Review profiles of Christian couples and prayerfully consider each letter.

*** Contact the couple or couples that you are led to know more about. (This may be via E-mail or phone. If you do not want to contact them directly, call us at Christian Adoption at 1.800.277.7006.)

*** Ask questions that are important to you--you have a right to know who these people are!

*** Select the couple that you believe is the best choice. (Remember that wealth, job position, social status, and/or physical appearance is NO reflection of the couple's ability to parent a child.)

*** Let any and all couples that you have contacted know what you have decided or let us know and we will contact them for you. (They have a right to know whether or not you have chosen them to parent your baby.)

*** Determine the type of relationship you want to have with this couple in the future and discuss your viewpoint.

*** Arrange a delivery plan with the adoptive couple.

*** Take care of yourself and your baby.

*** Keep them informed of your labor/delivery process.

*** Relinquish parental rights when authorized to do so, in the state where you give birth.

*** Adhere to the adoption plan that you have agreed upon with your adoptive couple.

Morally you should

Be honest about the racial combination of the baby.

Be forthcoming about information about the birthfather.

Be certain about your placement decision before emotionally involving an adoptive couple.

Be willing to allow the adoptive couple to contact you to discuss the placement process.

Be diligent to inform an adoptive couple about any decisions that affect the placement process.

Legally you are responsible to

Provide all medical records regarding prenatal care, which includes ultrasound pictures.

Provide medical history information to the adoptive couple for yourself and the birth father.

Provide your full name, address, phone/contact information.

Provide the adoptive couple with the name, address, phone/contact information of your physician, including the authority to contact your doctor and have medical stats released to them.

Provide the adoptive couple with your delivery plan and your intentions for relinquishment of your parental rights, according to the state adoption laws where you give birth.

Provide the adoption attorney with all necessary documentation and details required by the state where you give birth.

Provide a framework for the type of relationship you want with the adoptive couple, some states require that this is delineated in writing.

Praying for God's direction, His comfort, and His peace during the decision process is very important.

Pray for the health of your baby and that his/her safe delivery is a blessing for all involved.

Pray for the future of your baby with the couple you have chosen is insuring the best life for your baby.

God is more than willing to strengthen you.

God is more than willing to give you a future and a hope.
